Who Am I?

I am a senior in high school, exploring how I want to contribute to the world in college and beyond. Since I was a child, I have had a deep connection with nature and art. I grew up in Oakland in Northern California, and regularly spent time in rural Paso Robles, California’s Central Coast. I’ve experienced and internalized the dichotomy of our natural and industrial reality, from seeing cityscapes to a city of stars in the absence of light pollution.

It is through a creative lens in which I view the world. I use art to express what I hold sacred; preserving nature's beauty for future generations to enjoy. I work through a diverse range of mediums, including ceramics, henna, hand illustration, paint, pastel, and graphic software. My creativity flies at various altitudes, from dirt to digital design.

I aim to use my artistic capabilities to create designs as a form of activism to inspire others to make the world a better place. I believe that, when faced with our current and future challenges, there is always a creative solution.

In creating art, I use the medium that is most aligned with what I want to convey, whether it's the appreciation of natural beauty, a statement piece, or a call to action. I am inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, Vincent Van Gough, Edith Heath, and indigenous art such as huichol folk art and henna. Speculative design will empower me to expand my toolkit and have the agency to actualize change.
